Clayden Gallery

Quarr Abbey

Inspired by Warhol’s Empire it represents a twelve hour timelapse in the life of the Spinnaker Tower, the tallest public lookout point on the south coast.  With the onset of daylight increasing, so the tower becomes foregrounded on the filmic stage.  It becomes a point of focus to begin with and then through time, perception shifts as other nuances and details become more noticed.  What appears at first as a slow static piece becomes a rich tableau of visual experience.  There is a viewing gallery within Spinnaker Tower and this piece highlights the notion of seeing from an alternative watching perspective.
