Loop Box
London Gallery West
The Tea Building London E1
Loop Box is a continuous looped reel of unedited Super 8 film. It references structural film, kinetic art and art making itself. The materiality of the film medium is exposed by using a bespoke perspex box: A full 50’ reel of film dynamically moves and is momentarily captured before returning through the projector. Layers of looped film were filmed moving through the box and it is this film which is simultaneously projected using the loop box.
Shortlisted for the Pizza Express PROSPECTS contemporary drawing prize in 2004 this work was first shown in 2001 and last seen at a solo retrospective (Isle of Wight) in 2016 (video extract - Vimeo )
